SpaceX's Third New Drone Ship to Be Called "A Shortfall of Gravitas"

Falcon heavy launch spacex

ELON Musk has revealed why SpaceX's Falcon Heavy central booster failed to land on its drone ship, during the launch of the world's most powerful rocket.

The name of the new drone ship is A Shortfall of Gravitas and will join the now operational Of Course I Still Love You drone ship for East Coast booster landing operations.

SpaceX announced its intention to build the Falcon Heavy in 2011, crafting it as a vehicle essentially made out of three combined Falcon 9s, the company's now most-used rocket.

Officially called autonomous spaceport drone ships (ASDS), the drones take their name from space-going vessels from the Culture series of novels written by Iain M. Banks.

The company's third ship, named A Shortfall of Gravitas, will join Of Course I Still Love You for East Coast booster landing operations, Musk said via Twitter in response to FLORIDA TODAY.

Siri-us business: Everything you need to know about Apple's new HomePod
Perhaps the biggest issue stems from Siri's inability to recognize your voice apart from others. At times , not only did HomePod respond, but so did Siri on my nearby iPhone.

"Not enough ignition fluid to light the outer two engines after several three engine relights", Musk also said Monday on the center core's landing failure.

The center booster, like its side booster brothers, was supposed to head back down and land on Earth. The Falcon Heavy, a derivative of the smaller Falcon 9 that has been carrying cargo to the International Space Station for years, will be able to carry twice the payload of its nearest current competitor, up to 64 tons, at about one-tenth the cost. However, the rocket also carried something else, and while SpaceX's secret Falcon Heavy payload may not have generated the same headlines as the Roadster, it could have even bigger implications for humanity's future in space.

The fix, he said, was "pretty obvious". The latter is based at Port Canaveral and returns Falcon 9 boosters to facilities near the port for post-launch checkouts. Craig Bailey/FLORIDA TODAY Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, answers questions during a press conference following Tuesday's Falcon Heavy launch from Kennedy Space Center. At peak performance, the massive rocket can lift 141,000 pounds - equal to the weight of two adult sperm whales - into low-Earth orbit. It has given more people more access to more information at less cost than at any other time in human history.

It was his first time seeing a rocket shoot into space, but definitely not his last.
