Trump debuts in last place in political scientists' "Presidential Greatness Rankings"

How Donald Trump stacks up against the best — and worst — presidents

Trump earned three full points less than the second-to-last contender, James Buchanan, the president who saw the USA descend into civil war.

On a scale of 0 to 100 for overall greatness, President Trump scored just over 12, coming in dead last among US commanders-in-chief in an expert rankings survey released on President's Day.

Official results of the 2018 Presidents & Executive Politics Presidential Greatness Survey were released on Monday after 170 responses were received.

The top seven spots were unchanged from 2014, with Lincoln coming in first with an average rating of 95.03, followed by George Washington with an average of 92.59 and Franklin Delano Roosevelt with an average of 89.09.

They were asked to rate each president on a scale of zero to 100, and then the scores were averaged together for each president. Roughly 57% of the respondents were Democrats, 13% were Republicans and 27% were independents (3% selected "Other"). Franklin D. Roosevelt was third, Teddy Roosevelt was fourth and Thomas Jefferson was fifth.

The last time the group ran the survey, in 2014, Barack Obama entered the list in 18th place.

Even Republican raters put Trump among the worst presidents at No. 4.

"Trump could end up being a disaster in most people's minds by the end of it".

There are times when it seems no criticism of President Donald Trump would go too far among a large segment of blue check Twitter.

Trump was rated worse than President Richard Nixon, who quit under pressure from the Watergate scandal, ranking as 33rd. Trump is without a doubt one of the most, if not the most, morally bankrupt person to ever order a Diet Coke in the Oval Office.

The survey was published and authored by University of Houston’s professor Brandon Rottinghaus and Bois State University professor Justin S. Vaughn.
