Saudis Kill More Civilians in Second Straight Day of Yemen Strikes

Russia vetoes anti-Iran UN Security Council resolution

Yemen has been hit by three years of civil war between the internationally recognised government backed by a Saudi-led military coalition and the Houthi movement which controls the capital.

Haley suggested that in light of the Security Council's failure to hold Iran responsible for its refusal to observe the boycott of the Houthis, that the US, together with allies, could conceivably take action against Iran to punish the Islamic Republic. According to Al Jazeera, the draft also urged members of the U.N. Security Council to take further action against Iran for breaching the arms embargo.

The joint condemnation came a day after Russian Federation vetoed a British-drafted resolution renewing sanctions on Yemen and cited "particular concern" for the report's findings about Iran.

Iran said Tuesday that the vetoing of a U.N. resolution that would have criticized its role in Yemen represented another setback for the United States.

The UN experts, however, said they were unable to identify the supplier.

At least nine Yemeni civilians were killed and several others injured by Saudi-led airstrikes in two provinces of the war-torn Yemen on Wednesday, medical officials told Xinhua.

The Saudi-led coalition since past year has been blockading Yemeni ports in an effort to defeat the Huthis, in a move the United Nations says has exacerabated the near-famine conditions in the country.

United Nations statistics show more than 10,000 people, a lot of them civilians, have been killed since the coalition intervened in the Yemeni civil war that also displaced around 3 million.

Commenting on a report about sanctions in Yemen, he stressing that the Coalition adheres to all standards and human rights laws.

U.S. President Donald Trump is threatening to pull out of the nuclear deal unless it is made stronger and more is done to limit Iran's ballistic-missile activities and involvement in regional conflicts. It's unsurprising that Russian Federation would provide cover to Iran given the two countries have been allies for years due to their shared hatred toward the West.
