Seventh victim found after suspected Canadian serial killer 'targeted gay men'

Bruce Mc Arthur faces first-degree murder charges in the cases of six men. Police have so far not released McArthur's mugshot saying they have no 'investigative reason' to do so according to spokesperson Meaghan Gray

Homicide detectives have taken the unusual step of releasing a photo of an unidentified deceased man who investigators believe is a victim of accused serial killer Bruce McArthur.

"We have utilized numerous investigative techniques to identify this individual and so far have been unsuccessful".

Bruce McArthur, 66, was arrested in January following an investigation into the disappearances of two men from a predominantly gay neighbourhood in downtown Toronto previous year, which led police to the planters at a property that he used for storage.

"We have technical issues related to decomposition and the effects of post-mortem dismemberment", Pollanen said.

"It is obviously a key piece of evidence that we have that we are releasing, but we feel by releasing it, hopefully we can identify him and close off that area of the investigation". Tests are ongoing in an attempt to continue to identify these victims.

The man in the victim photograph appeared to be in his 40s or early 50s, with dark hair and a beard, and bruises on his face.

Det. Sgt. Hank Idsinga said the latest unidentified remains were recovered from a planter at a Toronto property where the remains of six other people had been found.

He refused to detail where the photo was taken and stressed that it was not clear whether the most recent remains found belong to the unidentified man.

Senior guard Robert Johnson said that will give the team confidence going into Thursday's game. "They responded and we never did". Sanders made 12-of-20 shots in 34 minutes in the win over the Hoosiers and scored 11 of his points in the last six minutes.

Of the seven sets of human remains discovered in planters, three have been identified as belonging to Kinsman, Mahmudi and Navaratnam.

ARRESTED on January 18, McArthur has been charged with six counts of First Degree murder in relation to the deaths of Selim Esen, Andrew Kinsman, Soroush Mahmaudi, Dean Lisowick, Majeed Kayhan and Skanda Navaratnam.

Nearly all of the charges against McArthur were laid before police identified the remains of the victims.

"This is a unique investigation in the history of our organization", said Michael Pollanen, Ontario's chief forensic pathologist.

"We have used a multidisciplinary approach to try to find the truth behind what happened", he said. This humanitarian objective of determining who went missing and identifying their bodies is an important application of forensic science and medicine.

Secondly, Pollanen added, "if you have an incomplete set of remains, it may be very hard to ascertain the cause of death". Pollanen said his main goal is to identify the remains and then move on to determining the cause of death - which can be hard when he's dealing with dismembered parts and decomposition.

The investigation has been hampered by the cold. There are also a number of other properties in the Greater Toronto Area that will get renewed attention from police as the weather warms and the ground thaws.

Police have combed through planters at some 30 properties where the accused serial killer worked. As McArthur - who also worked as a Santa Claus at a Toronto mall in recent Christmas seasons - had travelled for a previous job, police said they have also been in contact with police forces across Canada and overseas.
