Rockets rally by Celtics late to run winning streak to 15

Boston Celtics Daniel Theis expected to play vs. Houston Rockets

Looking to snap Houston's 14-game winning streak, the Celtics played about as ideal a road game as a team can when going against the best team in the West by jumping out to a two-point edge through 12 minutes, and extending it to eight by halftime. In their first matchup, the Rockets got up big - 26 to be exact - but the Celtics fought back with their defense.

The Houston Rockets know people understand how good they are on offense. Last night, the game couldn't have gone differently.

Russell Westbrook had 30 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, but it was CJ McCollum's 28 points and eight rebounds which led the Trail Blazers to a 108-100 win over Oklahoma City Thunder. The first quarter really set the tone for the game and Boston went shot for shot with the Rockets. The Celtics will inevitably have consistency issues, and any time they can go to their bench to help stabilize things, the starting unit is going to be a lot more comfortable and effective. The shooting troubles were the only negative on a night where outside of Marc Gasol, the Grizzlies didn't seem all that interested in competing. He did add six assists and three rebounds.

Evan Fournier hit the tiebreaking 3-pointer with 22 seconds remaining as Orlando held off visiting Memphis, which saw its losing streak hit 13 games.

Like Houston, their leading scorer came off the bench, Marcus Morris.

Curry is averaging 26.7 points and 6.4 assists per game and we will see how he is going to play throughout the rest of the season.

His foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said it was up to the rebels "to act" to ensure the brief halts in fighting bring relief for civilians.

Furthermore, if the Rockets can remain undefeated through March 18 of this year, their winning streak will be at 23 games, breaking the franchise record exactly a decade later.

Eric Gordon scored 29 points off the Houston bench, making 7 of 11 from behind the 3-point arc. Ball finished with 18 points, and Isaiah Thomas added 21 points. Clint Capela was the only player on either team in double-digit rebounding, with 17.

It only got worse when a sprawled out Al Horford was unable to call timeout - and without his teammates or Celtics coach Brad Steven successfully (read as: audibly) alerting the referees for a timeout - and forced yet another turnover in a close game. The Celtics led by six with just over four minutes to play. The Rockets desperately needed Gordon to bring that scoring, because Boston's bench had one of the most impressive games by any second unit in the National Basketball Association.

Ball extended the lead to 109-107 at 1:15 but the Spurs fought back with two free throws from Paul Gasol before Ball claimed his final three-pointer of the night to secure the victory. Marcus Smart's desperation three-pointer at the buzzer - after hauling in a full-court pass, turning and firing in about two seconds - stunningly drew iron but did not fall.

As frustrating as the loss is, it does show that the Celtics can score with the Rockets, even when Irving had a rough night.

The Celtics (44-19) continue to hang their hat on defense, but their offense since the season resumed has been outstanding.
