Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested and questioned Professor Atul Johri of Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) following accusations of sexual harassment against him.
The DCW also issued notice to the police, asking why action hadn't been taken. This (recording) could have been done today itself.
Chaudhary said: "We have recorded the statements of the complainants". Since an FIR has been registered, he should be interrogated in custody and not given time to protect himself. Many JNU professors have come out in support of the students and demanded all eight complaints by students be registered as eight FIRs. On being asked if the students protesting outside the police station were "manhandled", the DCP denied. He was later granted bail by a Delhi court.
"Action will be initiated as per law". Investigations are underway, he added.

CBI detects another fraud at Mumbai Punjab National Bank
Different investigating agencies, including CBI and Enforcement Directorate, are probing the fraud, dubbed as the biggest banking scam in the country.
In a statement, the JNUSU condemned lodging of the FIR, accusing the police of "targeting" the university's students at the behest of JNU administration since as many as "nine woman students" lodged separate complaint against Johri, accusing the professor of sexually harassing them.
A 26-year-old student, who went missing and was later traced to her relative's house, had also sent an e-mail to the professor, saying, "I am leaving your so-called prestigious lab, just because you are a characterless person and have no manners when it comes to talking to girls". A minor scuffle broke out when some of them tried to break the barricades put up by the police.
The students have accused the police of shielding Johri from arrest.
An FIR was filed against the Department of Life Sciences professor based on one of the eight complaints from women students.
