Kidde recalls over 400000 smoke detectors

According to the fire department, they contain a yellow cap inside that can block the two internal sensors.

The affected alarms are made by Kidde and are model numbers PI2010CA and PI9010CA.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this week it is recalling about 452,000 of the smoke detection devices sold in the United States.

Over 400,000 Kidde smoke detectors are being recalled because they may fail to detect smoke. Models PI2010 and PI9010 have been recalled due to a manufacturing defect that inhibits their ability to smell smoke.

The affected smoke alarms have a pill-shaped design on the front of the unit and a yellow cap visible through the opening on the side of the alarm.
