Sea of Thieves Devs Outline Future Content

Sea of Thieves update plans include more mechanics, a new AI threat, and weekly events

Everything introduced as part of the timed event will remain as part of Sea of Thieves once the timed event ends.

The Xbox and PC exclusive, Rare-developed game, recently surpassed two million players - in part, because it's a part of Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass platform - and now the developer behind the title has revealed plans for five major content updates over the course of this year.

In a YouTube video, Rare said it wants to release regular content updates and weekly events.

"We've been listening closely to our community, and we know how keen they are to hear how we plan to grow Sea of Thieves", Rare executive producer Joe Neate said.

And she learned a life lesson. "And so it did affect me because of course I always had to have a second job", Radler said. When she approached her boss about the disparity , "they gave me excuses, like they were waiting for my review".

The game has been out for a few weeks now, and based on the feedback I've been hearing, Sea of Thieves has been just a little bit light on stuff to actually do. Heading into the back part of 2018, there will be three more updates that players can expect.

Content updates will add major new features alongside new items & mechanics, with new goals and rewards.

Rare is calling the first add-on The Hungering Deep, and it plans to roll out it out in early May.

Also in May, the game will see the introduction of weekly events, where various new mechanics to play around with as well as goals to achieve will be rotating on a weekly basis. The first update will be called "The Hungering Deep" and will arrive in May. Rare says that what they're trying to do with this new AI threat is to make players interact with the game differently, trying to bring crews together. Cursed Sails will feature a brand new ship and Forsaken Shores will open a new location in the world to explore. "Similarly to The Hungering Deep, both of these updates will also include new gameplay mechanics for players, new AI threats to challenge, and new unique rewards to claim". The developers have stated regularly that one to four player crews is what worked best for the map and servers, so breaking that isn't likely.
