A 12-year-old kangaroo died after being struck with bricks and concrete chunks February at the Fuzhou Zoo in Fujian province. (Picture: thepaper.cn)A kangaroo has been killed by visitors at a zoo who were throwing bricks at it in a bid to get a reaction.

An autopsy later revealed one of the stones had ruptured the animal's kidney, the ABC reported.

"Some adults see the kangaroos sleeping and then pick up rocks to throw at them", a Fuzhou zoo attendants told The Haixia Metropolis News, The Times reported.

It is not yet clear if any of the visitors were punished for the act.

The zoo has cameras which look inwards toward the animals' pens, so the perpetrator (s) were not caught on camera.

Steve Pearce gave the Jays a two run double and two runs followed by Kevin Pillar with a run and another RBI. Travis shook it off, though, and finished out the game, before sitting in the second game of the twin-bill.

Several Chinese zoos have been in the news for the dismal conditions in which animals are kept. In 2016, animal rights activists demanded that a shopping centre in southern China free a polar bear that had been confined in a small display case at the mall.

A few weeks after rocks were thrown at the first kangaroo, a 5-year-old kangaroo at the same zoo was injured after the same thing happened.

It has meanwhile reduced the amount of kangaroos visible in the enclosure to three.

It has also made a decision to only allow three of their kangaroos to be on show for visitors, while the body of the dead female kangaroo will be preserved and put on display.
