At least 45 killed in Nigeria's village attack

Bandits have killed 27 people including children at Gwaska in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state in another fresh attack

Officials and residents state atleast forty have now been murdered by armed bandits who attacked a Nigerian village at the nation's northeast Kaduna nation.

When the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Aliyu Mukhtar, was contacted to confirm the incident, he promised to get detail and get back to our correspondent.

Among the deceased also include children, many of whose parents escaped the assault by the bandits of Zamfara forests, local media reports said.

The resident of Gwaska area noted that the attackers used to be cattle thieves but has turned to banditry in the region's remote villages.

The source said many were still missing, adding that arrangement had been made to evacuate the injured. They also burnt many houses in the community.

45 bodies were said to have been recovered so far.

Survivors mostly women now at Doka district said, most of those killed were volunteers who tried to defend the vulnerable villagers from the attack.

The State Emergency Management Agency is providing aid to those affected, it said.

President Muhammadu Buhari's government is again being criticised for not doing enough to stop the violence in the area, near the border with Zamfara state.
