Donald Trump accuses Robert Mueller of leaking secret letter from lawyers

Report: Mueller’s Probe Has Cost Taxpayers $17 Million, With Over $4 Million Paid to His Staff - Chris Reeves

Lawyers for President Trump told special counsel Robert Mueller that he already has the information he needs from thousands of documents they provided, as well as from other testimony. If Trump refuses that request, Mueller will have to decide whether to pursue a grand jury subpoena of the president.

A new government report released late Thursday shows the Justice Department has spent more than $17 million on its investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election since the appointment one year ago of special counsel Robert Mueller.

The letter also argues that Mr Trump could not have committed obstruction because he has absolute authority over all federal investigations.

The more recent letter, dated January 29, was written by two of the president's lawyers at the time, John Dowd and Jay Sekulow and responded to a request to interview the president. Trump questioned whether Mueller's office or the Justice Department had leaked his legal team's letter to the media. Trump has seized on that figure in tweets attacking the investigation. He added: "When will this very expensive Witch Hunt Hoax ever end?" Trump went on to say that authorities should instead be investigating what he called Democrats' corruption.

A conservative activist believes if Jeff Sessions had told President Trump that he would recuse himself from any "Russia collusion" probe, the president could have picked someone else to be his attorney general.

Trump's legal team used the argument to assert that the president has the authority to deny a subpoena against him to testify before the special counsel, a bold claim that expands traditional understandings of executive power.

At one point, the officer says, "Back up!" The beachgoer said she woke up to the altercation and began filming. An attorney for Weinman told the publication that the charges against her are exaggerated.

Mr. Trump's team has asked for a briefing about the informant, but Giuliani said Sunday that the president would not order the Justice Department to comply because it would negatively affect public opinion.

The letter outlines 16 topics Mueller's team intends to question Trump about, including the firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Statute allows him to terminate probe?

Kasowitz details several of Obama's comments that there wouldn't be an indictment and Clinton wasn't a target before the investigation was completed.

The Post first reported in July that the president had authored his son's statement, which misleadingly said the meeting was "primarily" about Russian adoptions.

They argued that the president holds a special position in the government and is busy running the country, making it hard for him to prepare and sit for an interview.
