Germany's fragile coalition facing friction over migration

US President Donald Trump waded into the political crisis facing Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday, declaring that the German people were "turning against their leadership" over immigration.

Germany's interior minister, leader of the Bavarian wing of Angela Merkel's conservative alliance, backed down from his defiant stance on turning away immigrants at the border.

NELSON: She said it's vital to know what will happen to any migrants barred from entering Germany so they don't end up back here. She has insisted that any response must be coordinated with other European Union nations.

Merkel will meet French President Emmanuel Macron in Germany on Tuesday.

Administration officials said they do not like the family separations either - calling it the result of legal loopholes - but insist migrants who arrive illegally simply won't be released or loosely kept track of. "Across Europe make a big mistake by letting millions of people who are so strongly and sharply change their culture!"

"Italy is one of the countries that is receiving a lot of refugees as a first arrival country", Merkel told reporters before talks with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.

Merkel has accepted an offer led by Seehofer of the party "Christian social Union in Bavaria" to delay until July a ban on the admission of migrants, previously registered in other EU countries.

Seehofer also sacked Jutta Cordt, the head of the Office for Migrants and Refugees (BAMF), an interior ministry spokesman said late Friday. Many still often go north, including to Germany.

Why Jose Mourinho is upset at Liverpool's 18/19 Premier League fixture list
Mourinho reportedly "has been left angered" by the preferential treatment given to Liverpool in the Premier League fixture list. His first game in charge of the Gunners will be against champions Manchester City , coached by Pep Guardiola , at the Emirates.

"We support the plans of the European Commission and the Austrian Term Presidency to strengthen the security at our external borders", she said.

A major crisis occurred in Germany's ruling coalition during the past weekend over migrant policy, control over the country's borders and expulsion of illegal immigrants.

The Bavarian governor said that he would welcome a "truly effective European regulation" but warned against delaying the matter with a superficial and non-binding resolution at the June EU summit.

It also found that two-thirds of all Germans believe that the CSU has only instigated this dispute as an election campaign tactic, in order to steal votes from the populist party Alternative for Germany (AfD) ahead of the October state election in Bavaria. The AfD that swept into Parliament past year on a wave of anti-migrant sentiment is staging a march Sunday through the heart of Berlin to protest against the government.

But it showed the bloc is trying to accommodate a new, anti-establishment government in Italy, as well as Berlin where Merkel's coalition partner issued an ultimatum for an EU-wide deal on migration. "This will also have repercussions for Merkel's ability to move forward on euro area reforms as both CDU and CSU are reluctant to back proposals on budget lines for investment and/ or support in case of asymmetric shocks for individual member states". In 2016, he threatened Merkel's federal government with a lawsuit if it didn't take measures to further secure the border.

Amid a flurry of national and worldwide criticism for separating children from parents who cross the U.S. -Mexico border illegally, Trump on Monday sought to justify the harsh methods by pointing to problems with migration in Europe.

German media was quick to respond.
