Raymond Felton Agrees Upon One-Year, $2.4M Deal With Thunder

Paul George

On Tuesday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Oklahoma City Thunder have committed to bring back Raymond Felton for another season.

Felton's new contract is for $2.4 million and puts the Thunder's combined payroll and luxury tax over $300 million. Unless the Thunder shuffle the books, they will be on tap for a $150 million tariff coming into effect at season's end.

George also revealed why he was so compelled to sign a new deal with the Thunder this offseason, stating how big of an impact his relationship with Russell Westbrook played into the decision.

One way to bring the team's luxury tax bill is to waive Anthony, who chose to stay with the Thunder after exercising the $27.9 million option on his contract.

Anthony is set to make $27.9 million this season, opting into the final year of his contract late last month.

Netflix Is Trialling A New Service Called 'Netflix Ultra'
Currently, it costs £9.99 to subscribe to the Premium tier, which includes access to 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos where available. Presuming you have an Ultra HD HDR screen to watch it on, the Ultra tier will cost you 16.99 Euro a month, roughly $19.80.

Spotrac says if the Thunder waives Anthony, they will save around $17.1 million in cap space and around $90 million in luxury tax payment if they decide to replace him with a player with a minimum salary.

Perhaps most encouraging was that Felton, a career 32.9 percent three-point shooter, drilled 35.2 percent of his long-range looks. In the playoffs, Anthony's production dropped further as he averaged just 11.8 points as they lost to the Utah Jazz in the first round.

Many thought that because of PG13's desire to play in his hometown, that he would play for the Thunder for one season before signing with the Lakers. The 34 year-old National Basketball Association journeyman averaged 6.9 points, 2.5 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 3-pointers in 16.6 minutes per game.

George, a five-time All-Star, was originally selected by the Pacers with the 10th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. Last season, Noel played just 30 games for the Mavericks, averaging 4.4 points and 5.6 boards.
