"My boyfriend's family was freaking out when I went to swim with the sharks and I was like, 'it's fine, '" she said.

An Instagram model was been bitten by a shark during a photo shoot in the Bahamas.

The whole thing was caught in a series of images taken by her boyfriend's dad, as she's seen holding her arm above her head to make sure the blood didn't cause a frenzy.

When asked to describe the entire ordeal, 19-year-old Katarina Zarutskie had one word in mind.

Speaking with 7News on Tuesday, Zarutskie showed the wrist injury she suffered when a nurse shark bit down on it earlier this summer. She added the locals were "very encouraging" in telling her to try the activity.

"[Doctors] now believe that I still have pieces of the shark teeth in my arm", she revealed. They didn't consider the nurse sharks a threat until one of them bit her and pulled her underwater.

Gareth Southgate defends decision to rest key players in England defeat
It's one of the reasons why we did what we did [against Belgium], to give ourselves the best possible opportunity of doing that. Colombia awaited the second placed team; as well as Japan for the group victor .

"I don't regret it, and I would do it again to bring awareness", she said.

She is upset at the way she has been stereotyped and accused of being social-media obsessed and careless.

When asked why she went ahead anyway, she replied, "It's just a once-in-a-lifetime experience".

The shark grabbed her and took her under the water. The group passed an area in the ocean where several nurse sharks were swarming, and since it was promoted that swimming with these creatures was a safe and normal activity in the area, Katarina chose to hop in and get some photos (Note: a warning sign by the pool of sharks clearly stated that the animals "can and do bite" on occasion).

"I'm not afraid of the ocean and if anything I respect and love it more", she says.

"You can't even predict how another human is going to react to situations, let alone an animal".
