Wimbledon men’s final won’t move if England make the World Cup final

Tennis fans around the World will have to contend with a huge sporting headache as the 2018 World Cup final will be primed to begin midway into the Wimbledon Final.

Federer, who cruised through to the quarter-final of the men's competition on Monday, said he was not anxious about the football disrupting Sunday's final.

The All England Club's chief executive Richard Lewis is clearly a bit anxious about his precious mounds and seats and strawberry concession stands being deserted on Wednesday for the semi-final and potentially as dead as a suburban high street on Sunday should England's young and suddenly decent players make the final, so has yielded to modernity.

Should England make the final on Sunday, it´s possible that the men´s final may not even be over - especially if Federer and Rafael Nadal are involved.

Lewis said he had not asked Fifa, football's world governing body, at any stage to consider moving the World Cup final to a different time.

The final will be played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Wimbledon, the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world, is here.

The All England Club CEO Richard Lewis is confident that everything will go well.

"We had superb tennis going on and we were benefiting from modern technology where people were able to follow the football, enjoy it, without disturbing other people", said Lewis.

"I gather it wasn't very successful because it did interrupt people's enjoyment of the tennis and what we did last Saturday actually did work very well", Lewis said of Wimbledon's last showing of an England game.

The rules of entry to the grounds of SW19 state that devices "must be switched off in and around the courts of play", but this appears to have been relaxed for this year only.

"Saturday was one of the most special days I can remember at the championships".

Still, spectators will have to utilize their own resources to watch the match, as the club also declined to show the game on the big screen just outside of one of the stadiums.

"I was out and about around the grounds and you could tell when England had scored". [Football fans] will hear every point, 'Wow, 0-15, 15-30.' The players are going to look up to the...
