AMESBURY: Charlie Rowley discharged from hospital

Amesbury Novichok victim Charlie Rowley released from hospital

Nerve agent victim Charlie Rowley has been released from the hospital after three weeks of treatment since being poisoned, United Kingdom officials said today.

Rowley and his partner Dawn Sturgess became ill on June 30 after handling a small bottle of Novichok near Rowley's home in Amesbury, reportedly disguised as a perfume bottle.

He reiterated that the public should not pick up items such as syringes, needles, cosmetics or objects made of plastic, metal, or glass.

Charlie has been released from Salisbury District Hospital, where he was recovering from exposure to Novichok thought to have been used in the attempted assassination of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.

Russian Federation has denied the charges.

Mother-of-three Sturgess died earlier this month and her death is being treated as murder.

Lorna Wilkinson, director of nursing at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, said Public Health England has advised that Charlie Rowley poses no risk to the community.

Government departments and the Metropolitan Police, whose counter-terrorism unit is investigating the poisoning, refused to comment on the report when contacted by AFP.

Scotland Yard said last night: "We have been talking to Mr Rowley in hospital and we will of course be talking to him now he has been discharged".

"Wiltshire Police will continue to co-ordinate activity with partner agencies at a local level to ensure that Mr Rowley continues to receive the support he needs in his ongoing recovery".

Britain's domestic Press Association news agency reported Thursday that police believe they have identified the suspects who carried out the attack.

They are believed to have been identified through CCTV, cross-checked with border entry data.

On Wednesday, worldwide chemical weapons experts completed their investigations in Amesbury, where they sought to identify whether the substance that poisoned the couple was from the same batch used against the Skripals.

John Glen, the Conservative MP for Salisbury, said he hoped the continuing police investigation would not only lead to the perpetrators of the attack being brought to justice, but also reassure residents who have had to endure two chemical weapon attacks on their doorstep.
