‘Get me a Coke!’ What’s in the Trump-Cohen audio, what’s not

The attorney for Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's longtime lawyer, says Rudy Giuliani is "inventing words" as he defends Trump after the release of a tape Cohen secretly made of Trump discussing a potential payment for a former Playboy model's account of having an affair with him. And that could be of interest to investigators looking into whether Cohen violated election laws by orchestrating hush money payouts.

After CNN first aired the Trump-Cohen recording on Tuesday evening, Davis said he believed Trump's team fears the President's former personal attorney. On that review, it is hard to understand the end of the tape as far as the form of proposed payment to AMI owner David Pecker.

McDougal later sued, claiming that AMI paid for the story with the intention of burying it to protect Trump. This tape, however, tells a different story, while also appearing to present evidence that Trump and Cohen were involved in a fraud. Cohen's attorney, Lanny Davis, released the recording to CNN Tuesday night in what is seen as an open hostility between Trump and Cohen.

On the audio tape, first released by CNN, Trump can be heard discussing the payment with Cohen. A spokesman for the United States attorney's office in Manhattan, which is investigating Cohen, declined to comment.

Trump has previously denied knowledge of the $130,000 payment to Daniels that was facilitated by Cohen.

At one point, Cohen says of David, "I'll have to pay him something".

Davis told Cuomo that he wanted the public to hear Trump say that he wanted to pay in cash, in contrast to statements from the president's lawyer Rudy Giuliani that it was Cohen who said they should pay in cash.

Trump also expressed concern that the recording had been terminated "while I was presumably saying positive things". Federal prosecutors investigating Cohen are in possession of 12 audio recordings seized during raids of Cohen's home, office and hotel room, according to new court filings. Cohen is under criminal investigation by the United States attorney's office in Manhattan for his personal financial dealings, including the payment he made to porn actress Stormy Daniels on Trump's behalf before the election, though he has not been charged with any wrongdoing.

Cohen's attorney, Lanny Davis, released the recording to CNN on Tuesday night in what is seen as an open hostility between the USA president and Cohen. The audio forensics expert concluded that Trump then responded with, "I'll pay with cash", to which Cohen immediately replied, "no, no, no", several times, appearing to reject the idea of paying with cash.

"This is about truth versus lying and ultimately Trump is going to be done in by the truth".
