Dave Bautista Says 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Without James Gunn isn't Guardians'

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Actor Dave Bautista Calls James Gunn Firing ‘Nauseating’

Bautista signed onto an open letter last week from the cast of the film, stating their support for Gunn and urging Disney to rehire him.

Disney booted Gunn, the writer and director of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, from the third film in July after conservative personalities and Twitter users dug up Gunn's old tweets making fun of pedophilia and rape.

Metro UK have contacted Dave Bautista's reps for comment.

Despite my own personal feelings on the issue, I have to admire Bautista's loyalty to his friend, as well as the cast's on the whole. However, he also says its "nauseating" to work for Disney when they're playing into a "smear campaign" led by fascists and "cybernazis".

Gunn was sacked amid controversy last month after alt-right bloggers dug up several old tweets of his containing jokes about pedophilia. "I'd be doing James a disservice if I didn't". The Hollywood star also described Gunn as one of "the most loving, caring, good natured people [he] has ever met", while acknowledging that the director has "made mistakes". And while several cast members have already issued individual statements supporting the director following the resurfacing of his controversial old tweets, a few more members of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast are coming out in support of Gunn and to voice their displeasure with Disney.

Mrs. Trump spokeswoman: LeBron doing good things
Following Donald's tweet other big names responded, with LeBron's reported rival Michael Jordan adding: "I support LeBron James ". The interview was meant to discuss the opening of the school LeBron helped found, but the conversation quickly turned political.

"Ego" from "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" joined his peers over the weekend in defending Mr. Gunn by saying he was "stretching the boundaries" to make people happy.

In the hours following his termination, Bautista tweeted that he was "not OK" with Disney's decision.

"It's sad. But it's a part of our fabric now, and I get it", he said, according to Variety. "I hope he is forgiven". Working on those movies made my brother a better person, and they made me one too.

Guardians of the Galaxy was previously set to begin shooting in Atlanta in the fall.
