Apple removes podcasts by Infowars' Alex Jones

Those taken down include War Room and The Alex Jones Show daily podcast.

Late Sunday, Apple stripped the majority of podcasts published by Jones's website Infowars from iTunes and its podcast apps.

"All users agree to comply with our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines when they sign up to use YouTube", a YouTube spokesperson told Ars on Monday.

Alex Jones, the founder, owner and star of conspiracy site Infowars, has been kicked off YouTube.

Jones is facing a lawsuit over his claims that the parents of the children killed during the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre were actors and that the murders were a hoax.

A representative said that Spotify took seriously reports of hate content.

Several days ago, Facebook removed four videos Jones posted that the group said violated its policy on hate speech. Some people were delighted to see the controversial host banned and expressed disappointment that Twitter had not yet moved against InfoWars.

The teams did not disclose what the Bills sent to the Browns, but ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the compensation Monday morning. In addition to the undisclosed Bills pick, the Browns own all of their selections in rounds 1-7 of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The multi-company action against Infowars began with Spotify removing all episodes of The Alex Jones Show podcast.

Meanwhile, The Guardian reported Monday morning that Facebook, after much pressure, had banned four Jones-run pages (the Alex Jones Channel Page, the Alex Jones Page, the Infowars Page and the Infowars Nightly News Page) from its platform.

Spotify, which added Jones to its podcast offerings last month only to be met with widespread criticism and threats of a boycott, is also ending its relationship with Jones.

"Tomorrow, Alex Jones will scream about his ban from iTunes being political".

The theories he has promoted include that the September 11, 2001 attacks on NY and Washington were staged by the United States government. In a statement, Apple said it "does not tolerate hate speech" and said it believes in "representing a wide range of views" so long as people are "respectful" of those with differing opinions.

"The establishment is making its move against free speech here in America", said Jone at the time. "It's why we have Community Standards and remove anything that violates them, including hate speech that attacks or dehumanizes others", Facebook said in an online statement, joining Apple and YouTube in silencing Jones.

The company cited bullying and hate speech for the decision. As pointed out by Reuters, only one program provided by Infowars, RealNews with David Knight, now remains on Apple's podcasts platform. "And if you think that your media company won't get shut down just because you're an "acceptable" type of conservative, you are wrong", he said. YouTube took down four videos from the Infowars channel, which was also slapped with a 90-day suspension from live-streaming.
