West Hollywood Wants Donald Trump's Walk of Fame Star Removed

2 West Hollywood City Council members want Donald Trump's star off Hollywood Walk of Fame

Still, West Hollywood is requesting from Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the L.A. City Council, as well as the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to make the said proposal into reality. It was initiated by West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tempore John D'Amico and city council member Lindsey Horvath.

"As of now, there are no plans to remove any stars from the Hollywood Walk of Fame", Leron Gubler, the chamber president, said in a statement, according to NBC News. "Earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is an honour".

The motion comes after frequent attacks on the sidewalk star, the most recent of which happened in July when a man destroyed it with a pickaxe.

Meanwhile, Austin Mikel Clay was charged with one felony count of vandalism on Monday in Los Angeles.

The resolution also highlighted the #metoo and #timesup movements, which swept across the USA previous year, stating that the ongoing existence of Trump's sidewalk star "should not be acceptable in the Hollywood and entertainment industry communities". The star has also been spray-painted with swastikas, had a miniature wall erected around it and was once covered with #IResist stickers. The Chamber of Commerce would have the final say in removing the star.

Australia announces extra $140m aid for drought-hit farmers
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has forecast still drier conditions and says there is no end in sight to the drought. The NSW Farmers' Association and Queensland's AgForce both welcomed the federal government's announcement.

The report read, "Having a "star" on the Walk of Fame is a privilege that is highly sought after by those in the entertainment industry".

When activists in the #MeToo movement proposed removing a handful of stars previous year - their targets included Trump, Spacey, Cosby and the director Brett Ratner - the answer was a resounding no.

Trump was given the star in 2007 for his work on The Apprentice.

The West Hollywood council considered the removal of the star at a meeting on Monday evening (local time).

Since Donald Trump took office, his star (at the nicer end of Hollywood Boulevard) has been repeatedly vandalized and twice completely destroyed. Another man smashed the star a few days before the 2016 election and was sentenced to community service and ordered to pay $4,000 in damages.
