Woakes replaces Stokes as England drop Malan

Surrey swagger Ollie Pope averages 63.3 in his 15 first-class games

Despite getting the right result yesterday, England have chose to call up Ollie Pope, the Surrey Batsman, to the squad in place of Dawid Malan for the second Test against India at Lord's, starting on Thursday.

He has been replaced by Ollie Pope, another 20-year-old who would be looking to make an impact like Sam Curran did.

Barring an unexpected tactical switch Pope will line up at number four at Lord's, despite regularly batting two places lower for the Brown Caps.

Twenty-year-old Pope, who replaces Dawid Malan, is now the second highest run-scorer in County Championship Division One, with 684 runs at an average of 85.50. He is the same age as Surrey team-mate Sam Curran, who was England's man of the match in the thrilling 31-run win at Edgbaston.

"Dawid Malan drops out of the squad for Lord's", said Smith.

Pope was also give a peek at Test preparations when England invited him to Lord's to spend time with the squad before the start of the two-match series against Pakistan in May.

It was a hugely impressive display by a man playing just his second match at this level and particularly heartening for England, which will be without fellow all-rounder Ben Stokes because of a trial on a charge of affray when it looks to go 2-0 up during the second Test of a five-match series at Lord's starting Thursday.

A right-handed batsman, who can also keep wicket, he averages 63.25 after just 15 first-class matches, having made his debut in July past year.

Coroner States That Margot Kidder's Death Was An Intentional Overdose
The entertainment site quoted the Park County Coroner as saying that Kidder died from an intentional drug and alcohol overdose. Margot Kidder's daughter, Maggie McGuane , told the AP it's a relief to finally have the truth come out.

"It will be interesting to see who can step up and take his place".

Realistically, England have to decide whether to play two spinners at Lord's, where they expect the pitch to be dry, and if they do so, whether Moeen should play instead of a batsman (Pope) or instead of the fourth seamer (who is probably Woakes).

Right-handed batsman Pope has been in excellent form for Surrey as they lead the Specsavers County Championship Division One.

"Everyone always says if you're good enough, your old enough", said Pope.

"You don't want to get your hopes too high but I had an idea". The wickets were flat, so I got time in the middle that I needed.

"If required, yes", said Pope.

"I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a concern. losing plenty of wickets in quick succession", admitted Bayliss. When I bat at 6 I can be in in the 10th over or for the second new ball. I think the four-to-six region, I don't think there's a massive difference in the way you play.
