President Trump REVOKES John Brennan's SECURITY CLEARANCE

Trump revokes security clearance of former CIA director John Brennan

"I don't think I can sign up to that", Clapper said.

She also said the move is not politically motivated and is warranted by the president's constitutional authority to protect national intelligence. It is one embroidered with rhetoric charging Trump with treason and, far more important, with documents now in the hands of congressional investigators showing Brennan's ringleader role in the so-far unsuccessful attempts to derail Trump both before and after the 2016 election.

Paul followed up stating his intent to meet with the president to discuss revoking Brennan's clearance.

Former top national security officials have historically maintained their security clearances so they can consult with their successors.

In an interview with MSNBC, for which he works as an analyst, Brennan said: "If Mr Trump believes this is going to lead me to just go away and be quiet, he is very badly mistaken".

"An enemies list is ugly, undemocratic and un-American. You would think the White House would check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation before trying to throw shiny objects to the press corps".

Brennan, who served as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency under Obama, has intensified his criticism of Trump in recent months, drawing backlash from the president and his supporters.

Russian Federation had used active measures to interfere in Western democracies before the 2016 election, and Brennan said Americans watched Trump publicly encourage those efforts in real time during the campaign. The president, who was on an extended working vacation at his New Jersey golf club last week, has been under fire over accusations of racism by former adviser Omarosa Manigault Newman and his bitter reaction to them.

The statement was dated July 26.

At war with current and former intelligence officials since before he was elected, Donald Trump Wednesday moved to strip Barack Obama's CIA chief of his security clearance, though worse may be in store for John Brennan, says Ray McGovern.

Family members said the remains were that of Wahhaj's disabled son, who had been abducted from his mother in Georgia in December. The father of a boy kidnapped in Georgia would not be released because an arrest warrant has been issued for him in that state.

Brennan also tweeted on Wednesday: "This action is part of a broader effort by Mr. Trump to suppress freedom of speech & punish critics".

Trump also said he was considering revoking the clearance of several other former intelligence and law-enforcement officials - many of whom have been critical of him - in the coming weeks.

Sanders, responding to reporters' questions, denied that Brennan and others are being singled out because they are critics of Trump.

Former high-ranking government employees can in some cases ask for and receive a security briefing on a certain subject.

"I call it the rigged witch hunt, (it) is a sham", Trump told the newspaper on Wednesday.

"I don't see why he would need a security clearance, I really don't", he told CNN.

Bruce Ohr, a Justice Department official now in the criminal division, was also on the White House list.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders announced the decision by reading a statement from Mr Trump.

That gaffe revealed that Trump had made a decision to strip Brennan's clearance last month - days after he threatened to do so - and after Sen.
