Netflix Is Testing Ads That Can't Be Skipped In Other Countries

Netflix testing ads

Netflix is now the latest service to experiment with in-show ads, disrupting users' binge-watching sessions with commercials for its own shows.

Netflix has confirmed a major change to its video-streaming service, effective as of this week for at least some users: video ads for other Netflix series between episodes.

'A couple of years ago, we introduced video previews to the TV experience, because we saw that it significantly cut the time members spend browsing and helped them find something they would enjoy watching even faster.

According to Pop Culture, Netflix is now testing displaying ads in between your favorite shows - Without an option to skip said ads.

Netflix has however confirmed that the introduction of promos in between the episodes is not a feature it is planning to roll out at this time. Subscribers who dislike ads on streaming services like Hulu and CBS All Access don't need to panic just yet.

In 2016, Netflix launched video previews that play when users browse. No US subscribers have mentioned seeing ads or previews for other shows and movies after episodes, and I'm nearly 100 percent sure the company would announce such a test in the US, if it were to ever happen.

State funeral for Genoa bridge collapse victims begins
Archbishop Angelo Bagnasco, who is expected to lead the mass, expressed his respect for those who refused state funerals. He encouraged citizens to show solidarity so "we can build new bridges to walk together" and rise above the tragedy.

Reactions began pouring in on the Netflix subreddit, and majority are extremely angry about the prospect of ads being introduced to Netflix.

Also, an original Reddit post mentioned that the new video promos are 'unskippable.' There is a Continue button with a countdown timer on it which is similar to the one user can notice on a YouTube ad.

Users took to Twitter and Reddit to file their complaints about the annoying new test. It also seems that the ads are purely for shows and movies on Netflix, not actual commercials from other companies.

They claimed it conducts hundreds of tests per year, most of which aren't adopted. They can be skipped.

That being said, all ads are a nuisance, and it's hard to make sense why Netflix needs to burden paying customers with these ads, seeing as most of those people probably hopped onto Netflix purely because of the promise of ad-free binge-watching sessions.
