White House Counsel Has Spoken to Mueller for 30 Hours

Robert Mueller the special counsel probing Russian interference in the 2016 election departs Capitol Hill following a closed door meeting in Washington

President Trump lashed out again at special counsel Robert Mueller on Sunday, comparing his investigation of Russian interference in US elections to McCarthyism of the 1950s and denying that his own lawyer's extensive cooperation with the probe invited comparisons to the Watergate scandal.

And former administration officials said it's unlikely that McGahn would still be serving in his top position in the administration if he had actually shared incriminating information about the president with Robert Mueller's team.

"Also, it doesn't risk anything for the president, because the president can't be charged with anything based on what the counsel says", Dershowitz said. "Mr. McGahn answered the Special Counsel team's questions fulsomely and honestly", William Burck said, explaining the president did not ask McGahn to refrain from discussing any matters.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told Fox News, "The president and Don have a great relationship".

In a tweet Saturday night, President Trump said he allowed and encouraged McGahn's cooperation with the special counsel. No Collusion, No Obstruction. "I have nothing to hide", Trump wrote in one tweet.

Mr. Trump's former personal lawyer, John Dowd, told Reuters on Saturday that he was aware Mr. McGahn had spoken extensively with Mr. Mueller's team.

Shooting followed dispute in Walmart checkout lines in Cheltenham
Police have not described the nature of the argument at the checkout and it is not clear if any party to the dispute was injured. Police say the two fled the store in a Pontiac Grand Prix but later crashed into a police vehicle .

According to the Times, McGahn is cooperating in the investigation - potentially to the president's detriment - to avoid being taken down by the investigation himself. "The president wrongly believed that Mr. McGahn would act as a personal lawyer would for clients and exclusively defend his interests to investigators, according to a person with knowledge of his thinking".

The New York Times said it stands by its story.

According to The New York Times, Mr. McGahn in at least three voluntary interviews with investigators that totalled 30 hours over the past nine months, described Mr. Trump's furore toward the Russian Federation investigation and the ways in which the President urged Mr. McGahn to respond to it.

This article was written by David Nakamura, a reporter for The Washington Post. This is why the Fake News Media has become the Enemy of the People. "So bad for America!"

Trump tweeted, referencing the indiscriminate and damaging allegations made by Sen.

"Study the late Joseph McCarthy, because we are now in a period with Mueller and his gang that make Joseph McCarthy look like a baby!" "I have nothing to hide and have demanded transparency so that this Rigged and Disgusting Witch Hunt can come to a close", he said, slamming the probe as "McCarthyism at its worst". In addition to calling the probe a "witch hunt", Trump now compares the probe to "McCarthyism:" Joseph McCarthy's series of mid-century hearings created to root out Communists in the government, business, and entertainment industries.
