Google to Kill Its Inbox App In Favor of Gmail

Google is Killing Inbox

After launching their Gmail alternative Inbox in October 2014, Google has today announced they're killing off the innovative client in favour of concentrating on Gmail proper. So there is no point to continue with two email apps by the Google with nearly same features. The company launched a new interface for Gmail this year which introduced several Inbox features. Inbox was Google's effort at email innovation in a mobile-centric era, and with its departure, we could see another prolonged period of Gmail stagnation.

As mentioned, pretty much all of Inbox's unique features moved over to Gmail back in April.

Google has made a decision to shut down its "Inbox by Gmail" app by March next year.

Trump orders use of sanctions to punish election interference
Lawmakers said the executive order, which would give the president decision-making power on imposing sanctions, was insufficient. Bolton and Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats said the signing of the executive order on a conference call.

Yesterday, Google announced its decision to discontinue Inbox by Gmail, citing the fact that many of its features are now available in Gmail proper. The change comes into effect soon after the search giant rolled out a design overhaul for Gmail from June this year. Google has already brought many features from Inbox over to Gmail, so one might say that it was inevitable that Google would kill off Inbox. By that point, most people (if not everyone) will be on the new Gmail with access to the built-in offline functionality. The company confirmed the news through a blog post on September 12 titled "Inbox is signing off. Find your favourite features in the new Gmail". Maybe Inbox was doomed from the start, but erase the frustration of Inbox users on this sad day.

To ease the pain, perhaps for itself as well as its users, Google created a user guide for asylum seekers who will be vacating Inbox for Gmail over the course of the next seven months.

Now You: Are you affected by the termination of Google Inbox?
