Trump's wording triggers controversy in S. Korea

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and President Trump at the conclusion of their summit in Singapore in June

Kim Il Guk, North Korea's minister of Physical Culture and Sports, said that Tuesday's game would "contribute to deepening the friendship and solidarity" between Beijing and Pyongyang, according to a North Korean state media.

Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha had said on Wednesday that Seoul was considering lifting measures applied after a deadly attack in 2010 that killed 46 South Korean sailors. Still, the lifting of the 2010 sanctions could offer at least some tangible benefits to the North.

Moreover, in prior comments, Kang had also raised the possibility of exemptions from worldwide sanctions.

In a rare sign of discord between Seoul and Washington, Kang said on Wednesday that U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had expressed "discontent" with an inter-Korean military pact reached during a summit last month.

Trump has said sanctions will remain in place until North Korea it denuclearizes.

A trip by Pope Francis to North Korea is "a dream that can be realized" and would be a enormous step toward peace on the Korean peninsula, a senior South Korean bishop said on Thursday.

"Last year, everybody was talking about war in the North". The train had Seoul governmental officials on board, reportedly planning an exploratory mission in advance of the rail re-linking project.

There's a view, the official added, that the president was also emphasizing the importance of consultations between the allies.

"Kang flubs it", the conservative Joongang Daily editorialized.

Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz play Louis and Rachel Creed, the mom and dad of a young family that's new to this country road. The teaser makes great use of Lithgow, who narrates the whole thing and warns that sometimes, "dead is better ".

"The perception that sanctions can bring us on our knees is a pipe dream of the people who are ignorant about us, but the problem is that the continued sanctions are continuing our mistrust", Ri said. "They've agreed to denuclearization and they continue to agree...we haven't removed sanctions, we have very big sanctions - I would love to remove them, but we have to get something for doing it".

But it seems unlikely that Kang flubbed it, one expert said.

At a parliamentary session in Seoul, Kang later watered down her statement, saying there are no full-fledged moves under way to remove the May 24 Measures. Her comments more likely reflect the opinions of an administration frustrated with Washington.

Moon has mostly stayed firm on sanctions despite actively engaging with North Korea and floating the possibility of huge investments and joint economic projects in return for the North's relinquishment of its nuclear weapons.

They said in a join communique that the council "should start in due time revising the sanctions against the DPRK". "The three parties also oppose unilateral sanctions". Other routes take more time and use more fuel. The daily said the agreements were "unacceptable for the US, but there had been no detailed explanation from the [South] Korean side".

She suggested that USA demands for a full disclosure of North Korean nuclear assets - which Pyongyang has balked at providing - is a poor path to follow, citing how the last time a similar process took place, it disintegrated in 2008 over the issue of related verification protocols.

Trump and Kim held a historic first summit in Singapore on June 12 at which Kim pledged to work toward denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

But increasingly North Korean ships have been spotted at foreign harbours, which the United Nations sanctions forbid.
