Storm Callum: Warning as heavy rain and wind continue to batter Lancashire

Weather warnings are in place for strong winds and heavy rain

The highest speeds were recorded on the Isles of Scilly in the early hours of Friday morning, while 60mph gales were recorded in Camborne in Cornwall and Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire.

The warning comes into affect from 5am on Friday lasting throughout the day until 9pm.

The MET Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the area and says people can expect delays to their journeys.

He said that some high areas in south wales could see up to 200mm of rain by Sunday when the monthly total for the region is 169mm.

Yellow warnings for rain and wind have also been issued across much of the west coast of the United Kingdom, from northern Scotland to Land's End in Cornwall.

Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns has spoken of his sadness at the loss of life during Storm Callum.

"South Wales in particular is a cause for concern, with an amber warning in force", Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern warned.
