Reporters condemn White House decision to bar CNN's Acosta

Acosta called it a blatant lie, as did CNN, and Colbert.

They do not match up exactly because of differences in video format, but appear to be consistent through the first 12 frames.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders has been accused of sharing a "doctored" video which exaggerates the actions of CNN reporter Jim Acosta to justify suspending his credentials.

Analysis by news website Storyful said the video Ms Sanders shared "halts" and then repeats several frames in order to exaggerate Acosta's movements.

As more clashes with reporters followed, Trump, exasperated but energised, summed up what is sure to be repeated at the rallies where chants of "CNN sucks!" have become a favorite chorus. That was a reference to the intern's efforts to wrest the microphone away from Acosta, which he successfully resisted, and Sanders' tweeted statement was accompanied by a video purporting to show the reporter aggressively swatting the intern's arm away. "And interestingly enough, under a different CNN regime, CNN stood with us, and said, 'Look, if you're going to try to freeze Fox out, we're not gonna participate in certain pool events either'".

Arguably, the most notable moment came when Acosta began badgering the president over whether he considers the migrant caravan that has been moving through Mexico toward the United States southern border an invasion.

Pat paused the video to point out that Acosta was definitely trying to ask Trump a series of "gotcha" questions but the president was not taking the bait.

Jim Acosta is a joke and CNN should be ashamed of themselves.

"In the current climate, we hope President Trump will stop insulting and denigrating reporters and media outlets, it's making journalists feel unsafe", added Radsch.

During the question, Trump interrupted and said, "Here we go again".

Even though Sanders cited the specific incident with the intern in her statement, the New York Times and CNN reported that Acosta's access was revoked because he asked Trump tough questions.

Later, the White House pulled his press credentials.

When Trump moved on to NBC's Peter Alexander, the reporter defended Acosta, calling the president's description of him "unfair".

You and I disagree on this, ' Trump said. "And if you did it well, your ratings would be much better".

"You released a doctored video - actual fake news", he continued.
