Martin Solveig 'Sorry' For Ada Hegerberg Twerk Comment At Ballon D'or

Norway forward Ada Hegerberg helped Lyon to Champions League and the French title

Olympique Lyonnais' Norwegian forward Ada Hegerberg (R) stands past French DJ and producer Martin Solveig gesturing after receiving the 2018 Fifa Women's Ballon d'Or award for best player of the year during the 2018 Fifa Ballon d'Or award ceremony at the Grand Palais in Paris on 3 December 2018.

Viewers were dumbfounded when, upon Hegerberg receiving the award, French DJ Solveig, who was co-hosting the event in Paris with former France worldwide David Ginola, suggestively inquired of the star "do you know how to twerk", to which she sternly replied "no", shook her head, and turned to walk away.

Martin Solveig himself offered his "sincere apologies", adding that he doesn't invite women to twerk, but "dance on a Sinatra song".

Hegerberg said Solveig also apologised to her personally, even though "I wasn't upset". Watch the full sequence.

"And to everyone who thinks people are overreacting and it was just a joke.it wasn't".

For the first time ever, France Football awarded the honour to a female player.

'I didn't really consider it as sexual harassment or anything in the moment'.

For years, the magazine France Football has been doling out its Ballon d'Or award to the best men's soccer player in the world. "Most importantly congratulations to Ada", Solveig wrote.

We wish we could say we were surprised by the incident but, sadly, it follows a long history of women in football not being given the respect and recognition they deserve. "It's a huge step for women's football".

Hegerberg, whose elder sister Andrine plays for Lyon's biggest rivals in France, Paris Saint-Germain, is a Norwegian global but has not played for her country since their disappointing showing at Euro 2017 in the Netherlands.

Modric won the Champions League with Real Madrid and then guided Croatia to the World Cup final in July.

Murray was similarly consistent in a 2016 interview with the BBC's John Inverdale after he defended his Olympic title.

Superstar tennis player, Andy Murray, has reacted angrily after Ada Hegerberg was asked to twerk after claiming the female version of the Ballon d'Or last night.

"I would like to end this speech with some words.to young girls all over the world, please, believe in yourself", she said.

"But at the same time, I've never looked at myself different from men's football".

A jury of 45 journalists picked the 23-year-old Hegerberg from among 15 nominees, including Matildas star striker Kerr who was fifth in the voting.
