Following his suspension by new Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel vowed to take legal action.

Broward Sheriff Scott Israel refused to resign for almost a year but on Friday, he was suspended and replaced by former Coral Springs Police Department Lt. Gregory Tony. "I served the county honorably and I will continue to do that".

In his press conference today, DeSantis said, "The neglect of duty and the incompetence that was connected to the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has been well-documented, and I have no interest in dancing on Scott Israel's political grave. He failed to protect Floridians and visitors during the tragic Fort Lauderdale International Airport shooting in 2017", DeSantis said in a statement.

A plane transporting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to South Florida was forced to make an emergency landing early Friday afternoon in St. Petersburg.

Tony was recommended by Andrew Pollack, father of the late Meadow Pollack, who was killed in the February 14, 2018, Parkland school shooting.

Chadwick Wagner both listed the unjust suspension of Israel in their separation forms.

Israel is likely to fight the move in the Florida Senate or possibly in court. If Israel challenges the suspension, the state Senate would hold a trial and could either fire or reinstate him.

Didn't know about allegations Manafort shared polling
I didn't know anything about that", Trump replied. "Nothing about it", he said in response to a reporter's question. Manafort, who sat in a wheelchair during a court hearing in October, also has severe gout, his lawyers said.

"There was no wrongdoing on my part", Israel told reporters after he was removed from office.

Kaplan said they are exploring their options and developing a strategy.

"His expertise are in things like active shooters, defending schools", DeSantis said. "Our community and our kids will be much safer now that Sheriff Israel is out of office".

Under Florida law, DeSantis has the right to suspend election officials accused of "criminal activity, misfeasance, incompetence or neglect of duty", according to ABC News.

Parents also bashed Israel for saying during a nationally broadcast interview he had provided "amazing leadership" in the shooting's aftermath.

Since the Parkland shooting, in which 14 students and three staff members were killed, Israel and his office have been criticized for their response to the shooting.

"One more second and she makes it", Guttenberg said. "Gregory Tony will be a champion for Broward County who will work tirelessly to safeguard our schools and our streets while ensuring accountability within the Sheriff's office". The sheriff said then the vote reflected only "a small number" of BSO employees and the union representing the vast majority of employees "solidly supports the leadership of this agency". Still, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, the commission's chairman, and other law enforcement officials on the panel have said they didn't think Israel should be suspended.
